In this part calculate how to identify the Ip address. In 8 faculties, as below:

8.FTKEE 


In Utem consider 8 faculties there 8 subnet for the user. Choose class B address type based on cases scenario one faculty nearly 500- 1000 user. We use fixed-length subnet mask(FLSM). This consider one faculty 64 subnet for one faculty nearly 1024 can access the portal.

Calculate subnet (FLSM): we assume that LAN use the IP-address start with 172.200.0.0

 step 1: defined subnet to be borrowed

- subnet borrow 6 bits

- Subnet and host = 6 ,  10

 

step 2: find the number of subnet needed

- Number of subnets: 2N 

- N = number of bits borrow

= 2^6 = 64

 

step 3: find the number of subnet mask

- Subnet mask:

= 6 bits = 128 + 64 + 32 + 16 + 8 + 4 = 252

=255.255.252.0

 

step 4: find the total number of host 

- Number of hosts: 2H 

- H = number of host on the subnet

= 2^10 = 1024

 

step 5: find the number of usable host

- Number of usable hosts:

= 1024 – 2 = 1022


step 6: Prepare the addressing table
